Fenn Kayaks Port Noarlunga Classic - SA Ocean Paddling Series

Location: Port Noarlunga to Glenelg or reverse
Course is wind dependent and could run - Port Noarlunga to
Glenelg - paddlers notified on Friday 11 November by EOB.
Paddle from Historic Port Noarlunga, through to Glenelgs SA's
most popular beach downwind to the finish line.
Online entries accepted from 7th November 2011 until
5.00pm Saturday 12th November 2011.

Entry Categories:
Surf Ski, Double Ski, Ocean Ski, Light Plastic Ski, Sea Kayak,
Outrigger Classes and all Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUP).
Age Categories:
- Open Male/ Female
- Under 20 Male/ Female
- Over 40 Male/ Female
- Over 50 Male/ Female
- Over 60 Male/Female
Safety:
Paddlers must wear high visibility South Australian Ocean
Paddling Series racing shirts, solid form PFD 2 & 3 to current
Australian Standards, whistle in accordance with Australian Ocean
Racing Technical Committee Guidelines - Australian Canoeing
Note: COURSE 2 is a short course for SUP and Pre- Qualification
Paddler's First Race.
Start times:
2.00pm (Course 1) Port Noarlunga to Glenelg
3.00pm (Course 2)Seacliff Boat Ramp to Glenelg
Registration for both events:
1.00pm at Port Noarlunga Beach (Entries will not be accepted at
second start)
Course Brief for both events: 1.45pm at Port Noarlunga Beach
(This ensures all paddlers have had the same briefing and all
paddler names are marked off in the master sheet.)
Course 1 - Race Start is 2.00pm
The course runs from Port Noarlunga Beach to Glenelg SLSC
(running up the beach between the finishing flag).
Course 2 - Race Start 3.00pm
The course start is the Seacliff Boat Ramp in a line to sea,
finish at Glenelg SC (running up the beach between the finishing
flag)
Paddler's Responsibility:
- Paddlers must obey race referee and starter and all water
safety craft.
- Paddlers must organise a driver with a trailer to drop them
off, be available if they retire from the race.
- Paddlers must aid others in trouble.
- Paddlers must wear a solid form PFD and leg rope during the
event and have a whistle.
- Paddlers must be registered, affiliated with SLSSA, and or
Canoe club, OCRA, Canoe SA and Paddlers must fill out a
registration form, waiver and medical form.
Race Management:
- Race numbers are required, purchased at the registration tent
for $7
- High visible race series shirts are required for $50 each.
- Course is subject to change at the discretion of the race
referee, it may be modified to take advantage of the weather
conditions or safety preparation. All paddlers are notified, in the
event the race is cancelled.
- Craft will be subject to a seaworthiness safety check,
- Pre-Qualification Paddlers - are paddlers in their first race,
they must complete Race 2 Course.
- Whilst on water paddlers retire downwind to the next emergency
meeting point, explained in briefing, and local surf life saving
club meeting point.
- Course is subject to change at discretion of the Race Referee,
it may be modified to take advantage of the weather conditions, all
paddlers notified.
